I love food. Really good food. And I found it here! When I find a place that has it I go back to try different things because I enjoy telling others about great places. I want to tell you about ALL the awesome food I had here. My meal on my first visit was gumbo, of course. I'm from Louisiana and I like to see what others make of it. 790 on the Gulf did a great job with their Louisiana Gumbo Sampler. It was a sampler of three different kinds, served with bread. (I left the bread because I'm a rice and potato salad person, myself). But all the gumbos were delicious! Great aroma, quality products used, well cooked. Very pleasing & would order it again. My second time there I ordered a cup of the Corn, Crab & Potato Bisque followed by the Mediterranean Shrimp Salad with the HOMEMADE olive oil based dressing. EXCELLEMT. Though I admit, I discovered I don't like feta cheese, but the bisque and salad make for a great tasting meal. (Actually, this was my favorite meal.) The third trip there was for a light lunch sandwich so I opted for the Shrimp Po Boy. Plenty of shrimp on fresh bread... so delicious. Another great meal. I did see someone who ordered the burger with cheese and it smelled delicious! I will definitely consider that in the future. My last meal there was the baked crap & shrimp dip as an appetizer and I had to try the crap cakes.... did NOT disappoint! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and melted in my mouth. The flavor was great with just enough seasoning. Many places tend to overcook these but 790 On The Gulf did it to perfection. I wish my own were as good. I already have my next two meals there planned.... the meatloaf (because I love a good one & I'm betting this one is) and the grouper (because it just sounds great!). I hope I can get back there soon!!!
You could not ask for a more outgoing, fun, and relaxing place to dine! Great hospitality from walking thru the restaurant to paying the bill!
The staff is great! That makes the food that much better! I've had a lot of nice meals in this area, but this place beats them all by far!
Delicious mimosas at 790 on the Gulf. This restaurant was at a resort on the beach (Miramar). Great atmosphere! Beachfront deck beside pool with live acoustic show. I love sitting beachfront when I eat! Probably the best thing I ate all vacation long was the Baked Lobster, Crab, & Seafood Dip. We got The Grouper Reuben sandwich with a side of tartar sauce. This was the BOMB.COM! We also got Fried Chicken Livers with french fries and white gravy. This was MMM MMM goooood! The Blackened Cusk on a bed of dirty rice topped with crawfish etouffee'... The fish was good. Dirty rice was not that good and the etouffee' needed help. The chef here is from Louisiana, which is pretty difficult to believe considering the etouffee was a flop.
Overall I give it 4 stars!
this is a ok place to have a cool one with a meal to boot, but they end to cater to the locals or frequent visitors it semmed to me as the service to our table was slow but the few behind us was a bit more upbeat, seemed the waitress knew them n kept them fresh cool beverages, but its a nice place and awesome deck view
